Treedia Feed Management Platform
Treedia Labs is the leading aggregator and distributor of feed-based media. Treedia’s flagship technology enabler is the Treedia Feed Management Platform (TFMP). The TFMP is the first and only feed management platform to support all forms of RSS-based feeds.
The Treedia Feed Management Platform has a technological competitive advantage due to its unique feature set allowing an unlimited amount of feeds to be aggregated, organized, transcoded and distributed to any device connected to the Internet. This platform provides a rich environment for consumption of feeds with any media type – text, graphics, audio and video.
Aggregation
The TFMP receives any kind of feed-based content and indexes it into its database. These content “feeds” can be added individually or in bulk, depending on how the content producer is delivering their content. Once content is indexed, the TFMP frequently and automatically polls the content to incorporate any new episodes that may be available for that content feed.Normalization
At this step, all feeds are “normalized”. This means that the feeds themselves are inspected and brought to a common standard. While most feeds employ the RSS 2.0 standard, RSS leaves much up to interpretation. Normalizing these feeds ensures that distribution can be achieved without problems that normally occur for the user at the device level.Curation
The TFMP curates the aggregated feeds via a standard customized directory hierarchy. However, given the sheer amount of content available through feeds, traditional directory hierarchy is not enough. The TFMP, therefore, provides a layer of social media interaction that enables organization, tagging and rating to be applied to the content by the user community exposed to the media. This additional layer of organizational “meta data” is then added to the feed information. The result is a much more robust and user-friendly content feed that includes user-defined organizational data.Transcoding
The TFMP automatically converts the file format of a given media file to a device specific file format. For instance, if an audio feed uses MP3 as its file format and the content needs to be delivered to a cell phone that only accepts AAC, the TFMP “transcodes” the file into the format required for that cell phone. This capability enables content to be distributed far beyond the current limitation of single file format feeds. Transcoding is currently being done for select distribution partners.Distribution
The TFMP enables for media to be distributed far beyond the current limitations imposed by feed-based content. Leveraging the powerful set of feeds that have been aggregated, organized and transcoded, the TFMP distributes the content to web sites, mobile devices, set-top TV devices, video game platforms and standalone MP3/4 devices. The TFMP also provides for user-driven viral sharing of the content via web-based widgets that can be embedded into web sites, blogs and social media platforms.
